About this rent receipt generator

If you've been looking for a free rent receipt generator that just works, this is it — no sign-up, no watermark, no catch. We've tried to make it one of the best and simplest rent receipt tools for India, and a top pick for landlords issuing receipts month after month: accurate amounts in words, the right revenue-stamp and PAN prompts, and a clean PDF every time.

A rent receipt is the simplest proof that rent was paid — who paid, how much, for which month and property. This free rent receipt generator builds a clean, professional receipt you can print or save as a PDF in under a minute, with the amount filled in words automatically and optional GST or extra charges like parking and maintenance.

It's built for Indian landlords issuing receipts and for tenants keeping their own records, including for HRA. There's no sign-up, and nothing you enter leaves your browser — so it's private by default. For a full year of monthly receipts in one go, use the HRA Rent Receipt Generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is a rent receipt mandatory? +

It isn't required by law for every payment, but it's strong proof of payment and is needed if you claim HRA, or in any rent or deposit dispute. Most tenants and landlords keep one per month.

Do I need a revenue stamp? +

Only when rent is paid in cash and the amount exceeds ₹5,000 — then a ₹1 revenue stamp is affixed and signed across. For UPI, bank transfer or cheque, the bank record is your proof and no stamp is needed.

Is a signature needed on a computer-generated receipt? +

A computer-generated receipt is generally valid without a signature. For cash payments, a signed receipt with the revenue stamp is the safer practice.

Does GST apply to rent? +

Not for normal residential rent (including HRA). GST usually applies only to commercial rentals or GST-registered landlords, so leave GST at 0 unless that's your case.

Can I use this for an HRA claim? +

Yes. If you need receipts for several months at once, use the HRA Rent Receipt Generator, which also prompts for the landlord's PAN (required if annual rent is over ₹1,00,000).

Is my data stored anywhere? +

No. Everything you type stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.
